Topical caffeine may also be used while some alpha reductase inhibitors are still not approved by FDA.

Minoxidil is available over the counter and is also used for hair regrowth for women. However, it is used for its side effects and may not be the correct treatment for all. There is a strong connection between diet and lifestyle and hair loss.

The most common hair regrowth products are shampoos. While these may be effective in preventing hair loss in many cases they ineffective for re-growing hair over bald spots. At the most they are effective in cases of mild hair loss.
